Visualizing Mahler

Introduced at MahlerFest XVI in 2003, "Visualizing Mahler" is a countywide cooperative project involving MahIerFest orchestra members, visual artists, galleries, and teachers to create a DVD to be given without charge to local public school art and music teachers to illustrate how artists can be influenced by great music. Over 60 participating artists were given a CD of MahlerFest's 1993 recording of the 6th and the artwork they created was exhibited at five major galleries in Longmont, Louisville and Boulder. The January exhibit coincided with MahlerFest XVI and resulted in dozens of sales for the artists and welcome traffic in the galleries at a slow time of the year.
The project continues this year with a juried exhibit of art inspired by Mahler's Seventh Symphony.

A gala opening of "Visualizing Mahler" will take place on January 13th, from 5-7:00 PM, in the exhibit space adjacent to the Boulder Public Library Auditorium. The MahlerFest Chamber Music concert follows at 7:00 PM in the auditorium (free admission).

Visualizing Mahler art works will displayed as follows:
