Colloquium on the Mahler Tenth
Friday 10 January, 7:30 PM, venue to be announced later,
The origin of the Tenth, the history of its publication, and realization
into full orchestral score by several editors. Participants will
include:

Prof. Edward Reilly, Vassar College, an authority on Mahler's
manuscripts

Prof. Steven Bruns, CU, authority on the Adagio movement

Dr. Frans Bouwman, Den Haage, the Netherlands, who has been working
on various aspects of the history and nature of the Tenth Symphony
for
almost 20 years.

Jerry Bruck, Posthorn Studios, New York, a Mahler admirer and
digital
recording engineer, who was one of the three people who persuaded
Alma Mahler to release her ban in the 1960s on performing the
Tenth.
Bruck has researched the story of the famous Fire Captain's
funeral in
1908 which inspired the muffled drum strokes in the Tenth.

Jerry Fox, President, New York Mahlerites, author of the program
notes
for the recording of the Clinton Carpenter version of the Tenth.
Some musical examples will be played along with the discussion.
