Symphony No. 2
MahlerFest XII, Symphony No. 2; performed in 1999. Lucille Beer, mezzo-soprano (Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera) Caroline Whisnant, soprano (National Theater Mannheim, Oper Frankfurt), with the Colorado Symphony Chorus, Colorado Mormon Chorale, and Denver's Cherry Creek Chorale. Last movement includes Alpenhorn and steam railroad engine bells.
Two song bonus: "Antonius Fischpredigt", (the theme of which is the basis of the Symphony's scherzo) and the rarity, "Zu Strassburg auf der Schanz" (the only early song partially orchestrated by Mahler and the only such recording of this song.)
